First Nations Capacity Building
We are proud to share that the Goyder South Wind Farm supported the successful delivery of a unique three-week training program, ‘Caring for Ngurambang’, in collaboration with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and under the guidance of the Dyiraamalang Girbang Elders.
Developed in response to a community-identified opportunity, the program supported First Nations participants to strengthen their understanding of renewable energy projects and cultural heritage management, including the knowledge and practical skills needed to engage in these areas with confidence.
This industry-first initiative brought together theoretical learning from CIT’s expert in conservation and ecosystems management, practical insights from renewable energy practitioners, and cultural knowledge shared by local community experts.
The program stemmed from our 100 MW power purchase agreement with the ACT Government, in which we committed to partner with CIT to extend its VET capabilities in the renewable energy sector.
